Thanks to the New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, Wayside has become the first ever winner of their brand new Community Partnership Award for "outstanding contributions, performance, productivity and dedicated service" for our work managing the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). CSFP is a USDA low-income senior food program for community members who are age 60 or older. As part of an effort to focus on food security in a clinical setting, Wayside works with dieticians and case managers to connect eligible patients who are being discharged with the program. Patients receive their first box of food when they head home and after that get connected with their local distribution site to continue receiving a box monthly. Wayside is the managing administrative organization for the program in Cumberland, Oxford and York counties and through partnering with a network of 50 social service organizations, residential communities and places of worship as distribution sites, connects over 2,000 community members with a box of food every month.
