Job Description:

This position is responsible for coordinating organizational events, assisting with food drive logistics, and special community meals & gatherings. This position also coordinates communications content and strategy for supporters and other stakeholders.  

You will work with the Development team to maintain a common language based on Wayside’s values and to actively incorporate it into communications strategy to demonstrate the success of Wayside's work and to ensure people understand what we do and why we do it. You will work with other team members to highlight and tell the stories of volunteers, supporters, organizational partners, food and financial donors, and program participants. You will manage and project lead annual events and special events, working closely with staff and board members as needed. This position works to continue the development and marketing of a strong and visual brand as well as help Wayside achieve overall organizational objectives.  

Responsibilities Include: 

Events -  

  • Manage and serve as primary contact for our annual fundraising event (Inside Wayside) in collaboration with board & staff members; outreach & press release, ticket sales, music, sponsorship, auction & raffle donation solicitation, & timeline.   

  • Serve as the point person for fundraising and food drive event inquiries  

  • Develop opportunities for promoting name recognition and branding 

  • Manage, in collaboration with staff, the annual Pop up Picnic series (four gatherings in July & August); develop, in collaboration with relevant staff, support coordination of springtime Volunteer Appreciation event & fall/winter Thanksgiving Meal; Manage the annual Inside Wayside event with staff and a supportive board committee. 
  • Responsible for being a Wayside presence at partner events and meetings, public networking events including professional development opportunities, work with staff to provide updates as needed and work with ED to create a media presence and promote Wayside to a wider community.  

Communications -  

  • Manage website including primary staff contact with contracted web host and designer; update and manage all information regarding community resources and Wayside programming, staffing, annual statistics, and photos; develop language for and post up to 4 News/Articles per month including a quarterly newsletter Project manager for branding activities including primary contact with contracted graphic designer, ordering all outreach and swag materials, etc. 
  • Project manager for Annual Report & Bi-annual fundraising appeals, which includes working with Development staff to develop theme, language and content, project timeline, and all digital components including social media, website 
  • Social media manager, responsible for creating content and executing communications strategy for various platforms including Facebook and Instagram 
  • Work with staff when needing to communicate programming information (facility and meal closures, weather related closures, hiring, volunteer needs, etc...) 
  • Responsible for photography and filmography for outreach materials, website, and social media 
  • Responsible for getting language translation for all relevant materials  
  • Field all press inquiries 

Skills & Qualifications Include: 

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) 
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects and events under pressure 
  • Ability to manage and execute events  
  • Experience and ability to manage a social media & outreach campaign 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Ability to communicate with and engage effectively with a spectrum of stakeholders 
  • Desire to be part of a diverse and engaged team 

Program Knowledge:  

Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, Microsoft Office (Eventbrite & Canva a plus)

Compensation: $21/hr
